Monel® 400

Monel refers to a category of alloys composed primarily of nickel, which constitutes between 52% and 67% of the alloy, along with copper. These alloys also contain trace amounts of iron, manganese, carbon, and silicon. It is important to note that Monel is distinct from cupronickel alloys, as it contains less than 60% copper. They are known for their strength, wear resistance, and moderate corrosion resistance.

Monel® K500

Monel® K500 is an alloy composed of nickel and copper, which can be strengthened through the addition of aluminum and titanium via a precipitation hardening process. This alloy maintains the superior corrosion resistance properties of Monel 400 while exhibiting increased strength and hardness as a result of precipitation hardening, in contrast to Monel 400. Specifically, Alloy K500 demonstrates approximately three times the yield strength and twice the tensile strength compared to Monel 400. Additionally, Monel K500 can achieve further enhancement in strength through cold working prior to the precipitation hardening process.
